CHERYL BRADFORD – PRESIDENT

Cheryl is a founding member of FSM and is very active in the day to day running of the organization. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master’s degree in Social Work and is a licensed clinical social worker. During her career, she specialized in the medical field, working in both hospitals and home health care. Cheryl participates in many church outreach and mission programs and is a member of Beach Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL.

CATHERINE DUFFY – VICE PRESIDENT

Catherine is a founding member of FSM. She is recently retired from a distinguished career as a health care executive in Nashville, TN.  Her passion is for the women of Bajo Tejares in San Ramón, Costa Rica.

GARY TILLER — DIRECTOR

Following a thirty-year career in sales and in marketing, Gary served as a ministry executive at Beach Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL, and as Executive Director of the Beaches Council on Aging, from which he retired in 2020. He and his wife Susan have regularly volunteered throughout their community, at church, and with various non-profits. It was only natural for God to lead them to serve internationally in mission with FSM! Gary holds a business degree from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s in Leadership from Southeastern University.

WAYNE MOSS — DIRECTOR

Wayne was raised in the Methodist church in Clearwater, Florida. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, and two Master’s degrees in chemical engineering and business administration from the University of Missouri. Wayne, along with his wife Debbi, returned to Florida in 1981 where they began volunteering with their church’s youth ministry. They led a domestic home repair mission trip with the youth in 1985 and have passionately served in short-term missions since that time. They moved to South Carolina in 1986, and after spending 40 years in the chemical industry, Wayne retired in 2015. They are active members of Chapin Christian Community Church.

SHANTI COPELAND — DIRECTOR

Shanti has been leading mission teams to FSM since 2015. She graduated in 1997 from Jacksonville University with a Bachelor’s in Marine Science, followed by a Master’s in Sports Administration from FSU in 2003. In 2008, she received a graduate certificate in Emergency and Crisis Management, and in 2024 earned her Doctorate in Leadership and Organization Innovation from Marymount University. Shanti assists various organizations prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against natural and manmade disasters. In her role with FSM, she has been part of the leadership team of our annual fundraising events, Run With a Mission and Fiesta With a Mission.

TOM MURTA — DIRECTOR

Tom and his wife Ruth are natives of Kentucky and have lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL since 2001. In addition to his work as an executive in the railroad industry, he has a passion for mentoring and coaching. Tom is active in youth programs, scouting, and development of young professionals. His passion and desire to serve FSM sprouted from his daughter Hallie, and her many trips to the mission as a youth, including serving as a missionary for a year.

DONALD DURANT — DIRECTOR

Donnie and his family have been serving with FSM since 2010, and have led several mission trips to Costa Rica. They live in Chapin, SC and attend Chapin Christian Community Church where he formerly volunteered with the youth ministry. Donnie retired from Receivable Solutions Inc., a company he and a partner founded and developed. He and his beautiful wife Deanae have four children, Thomas, Kara, Ryan, and Zach.  Kara formerly served as a missionary intern at FSM.

CHERYL GRIFFIS — US ADMINISTRATOR

Cheryl and her husband Dewayne have been Jacksonville, FL residents for over 35 years. They have two children and twin grandsons. Cheryl is a former CFO and previously worked as Director of Operations with one of FSM’s church partners, Beach Church. Cheryl became passionate about the families in Bajo Tejares after serving on numerous mission trips to San Ramón. She has a heart for missions and serving within her community.

KATHLEEN COUGHLIN — DIRECTOR

Kathleen first came to the mission in April 2014 as a missionary intern and she has been hooked ever since! She worked extensively with FSM, guided by her love for working with the community of Bajo Tejares. While at the mission, she started a volleyball team, worked to help re-vamp the music ministry, and has devoted much of her time to counseling teen girls. She earned a degree in Spanish from the University of North Florida and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida. Kathleen lives in Costa Rica with her husband and daughter.
